It’s history. No, it’s mythology. Or…maybe it’s a game. It’s just a game…isn’t it?
History as you’ve never played it before. We’re not just reading about it. We’re not just studying it. In this class, we live it. We drive it.
We Hijack it.
“I got to playtest this idea and I absolutely loved what happened. It was a little chaotic, but tons of fun. I personally love strategy and the game we played was fantastic. It isn’t like anything I have done before, and its something I would highly recommend. I’ll be there with my sharp knives in September. Count on it.” –Sam F.
Mr. C’s History Hijack is a never-before-attempted look at how history would be if you actually had to make the decisions yourself. No saying “Kublai Khan should not have invaded Korea” or “Alexander should have turned back before Afghanistan” or “Wilson shouldn’t have gotten involved in World War I”. You think you know how to do it better? Here’s your chance to prove it.
Twenty students. Twenty players. It’s 340 B.C., or AD 1200, or 1912. You get a country/region/duchy/city, and you get to play it. No guardrails. No bailouts. Sink or swim on what you know, or you can find out, or you can negotiate.
There are no “lectures” here. There is only the history. And the game.
We meet together for a couple of hours on alternate Fridays (over Zoom, so you can take the class from anywhere), but the class–the Hijack–it’s going on all the time. You’ll make moves every week, and see how your decisions play out. Research, discussion, diplomacy, innovation, spycraft, strategy, they all play a part here for your success…or your failure. Oh, you’ll study, all right. Your learning helps your nation survive. But it’s so. much. more.
Diplomatic summit (class, as everyone else calls it) is Friday at 1-3 pm Eastern/11-1 Mountain on alternate weeks. Break for Christmas (3 weeks), and then we go right to the last day of April. Because of the experimental nature of the class, admission is by invitation only–registration does not guarantee a spot. Cost is $460 (less a $50 deposit due July 1), or $70/mo.
